How Coaching Works

Step 1

The first step is to reach out and let us know you are interested in coaching. You can send Growthsparks a message or call Suzanne directly at +420 777 036 577.

Step 2

We will set a date for an online or face to face introduction meeting. This first meeting is free and without further obligations.
The introduction meeting gives you the chance to ask any questions you might have, and to see if you’d like to work with me.
Most likely, I will ask you about your motives to look for professional coaching. And ask you about your challenges, needs, and what you’d like to get out of the coaching. If this works for you, we can set up objectives you would like to achieve through the coaching journey.
Together we will agree on the amount of sessions needed, and the frequency of sessions. Experience shows you’ll need at least seven sessions in order to start getting results.

Step 3

We start the sessions. A session will take about 1 hour over Skype and about 75 minutes if we meet in person. (We can offer sessions in Dutch or English)

Step 4

After each session we will agree on ‘your homework’. These are mostly assignments that will help you deepen your understanding of your behaviour, drives and desires.

During our last session there is the option to reflect on the learning process.

Method

The approach or tools used in coaching are adapted to your specific needs and learning style. Models used include:

  • RET – an action-oriented approach that teaches individuals to identify, challenge, and replace their self-defeating beliefs with healthier ones that promote well-being and goal achievement (Albert Ellis).
  • Voice dialogue – The method for contacting, learning about, and working with the many selves (characteristics) that make up each of us. The method provides insight in how the selves operate in their lives and how they keep them from realising their full potential (Stone and Stone).
  • The Eight steps of Change (Kotter) Specifically for leaders and managers dealing with organisational change
  • Principles from mindfulness that lead to an increase of awareness, focus and concentration.
